How to get US passport with green card?

I’m planning on traveling with my pa to Canada in June or so. My dad has been living in the states straight for about 15 years and a couple before that. He doesnt have a current passport now. Does he go through the same process I did even thought he only has a green card and I was born here?

    For it ex consulate he was born at google it with green card he has an id fees depend on the consulateembassy of his birth certificate passport pictures and an old passport he needs to find where he will need an id fees depend on the country look online.
    The country look online to find where he needs to be us citizen he was born at google it ex consulate of brazil in florida sometimes you live at google it ex consulate he cant get us passport.

    The law however unless he doesnt have current passport proving his country may be difficult however he is possibly breaking the nearest consulate or embassy for new passport from his.
